Strange Thoughts

I've met a lot of new people lately, but I must say there are some people who are so sensitive - you wonder how they live daily...and at the same time there are also people who run hot and cold - its like one day they are nice to you and the next day they take digs at your character for no particular reason. Strange indeed.

I might be eating South Indian food again today, hoping to get my favourite Indian sweets for dessert :)

*sugar cravings ... :(*

Three Months in Norway

Well, its been three months so far...

Life is still really nice and fun. I love my job and my colleagues. I started Norsk lessons on Monday...oh my goodness - feels strange to start using your brain again. I didn't realise how idle I was the past five months or so, not really learning anything new. I mean I learn new things at work, but its still not using full brain power - if you can put it that way.

I wore makeup to work today. Plan to do that a little bit more - its a lot of fun :)

Having Lots of Fun

So I hung out with some of my colleagues at a party yesterday - one of them turned 30 and he threw a party at his place. It was really nice, he has like twice the living space I do :)

Its so nice to hang out with my colleagues - they are a bunch of wonderful people. I don't drink and unlike people whom I have hung out with, I don't get lectured on the importance of loosening up, neither do I get the "oh you're a wimp"...I like that they just let me be - sitting there with my Coke can or orange juice :) Makes me feel less weird.

He deserves it :)

When I was 16, I took English Literature as a subject for high school. The novel we did was Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe. Five years later, he wins the Booker Prize for Fiction. That's just wonderful...that book was such a good read :)

South Indian Food in Oslo

My colleagues and I (7 of us altogether) had dinner at a South Indian restaurant in Oslo. Oh my goodness, vadai and thosai - I never thought I'd ever see that kind of food again....at least until I went back to Malaysia for holidays.

There was a sweet store selling Northern Indian sweets. I had to get my favourite carrot halwa (actually taught the South African guy to eat it too..hahaha).

It's Friday tomorrow - what a good week it has been :)

Narcisstic tendencies...

I learned how to apply makeup... *grins* Oh my goodness, it wasn't difficult at all. Now I know what people meant...I mean I was like looking for a textbook on it...but it turned out to be quite simple.

*Looks at her mirror again* *Happy, contented sigh*

Wow..

So Malaysia has one of the largest shopping malls in the world ... as mentioned by Forbes.

Cool huh :)

Oslofjorden

Norwegian people are very into nature. It's a quality I have never really had. I've always been the big city person who appreciates skyscrapers more than anything else...high-rise apartments, state of the art technology...and so on.

I was lucky to be on a boat along Oslofjorden (Oslo fjord, actually, I'm just using the Norsk name to show-off a little..hehehe) and I took some scenery photographs. This is one of them. It's a really nice, calm, soothing feeling - being on a boat in the "middle of nowhere". I think it is something I don't do often enough - communing with Nature. My colleagues often discuss their experiences in cabin trips and just being in the mountains far away without e-mail or Internet access. Hehehe, I get edgy when I don't have my Internet. I wonder how they do it.

Ah, the Life!

So I'm sitting here, sipping a double mocha and planning my day today. Things are still smooth-sailing. I did a wee bit of shopping and picked up a handbag and a can-opener yesterday. Yes, the two things I really need - the can opener, because its just impossible to open a can without one (I tried with a knife and a scissors -- succeeded, but I don't think I'll be lucky enough to escape without a scratch if I tried that again...) and a handbag, because I have an office summer party to attend and I need to look good :) I carry messenger bags to work, which is fine for my job and stuff, but its not for "going out".

Hey, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. If there's one thing I've learned since graduation - it helps to look presentable :)

Change..

Picture obtained from ww3.waterstones.com I'm currently reading this book. It's really nice.. Life in Oslo is nice as usual. These days, because its Summer, the sun sets at 11pm or so, so it's always very bright. The temperature is about 22-27 degrees Celcius lately. It's kind of surprising because that's considered "good weather" in Malaysia and even Australia, but here I find it so warm. My colleagues laugh when I say that because all the while I was always cold. The worst part is that the slightly unpredictable weather and the strong wind has kind of ruined my skin. In Spring it was too dry. Now its way too oily and I'm getting breakouts and just the scars are so visible. So I had to change my face-care products. Yeah, 3 years ago I couldn't care less about what I did for my skin. Half the time it was just using whatever was on the sink - some simple brand, whenever I felt like it. Now as I grow older, I hear people discuss "beauty regime" and wonder if I should start doing that myself. But then again I'm the tomboy who doesn't know how to apply makeup ;) I guess that's just me - always focused on practical things!
